What are you watering?

During the spring and summer, I often turn around and see my wife watering flowers or our vegetable garden but our daughters’ hair?!? That one was a surprise! Brooklyn and Addison were about to swim, and their hair absorbs less chlorine if it’s already wet. Good hair is worth a little water, some effort, and so are many other things as well.

When we try to influence and impact people around us, we usually “water” whatever in their lives we wanna see grow. Galatians 4:19 says, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,” Paul is writing to some young Christians he’s been able to impact. Did you notice his goal: “until Christ be formed in you”

Are we trying to get our friends or our family to be just like us, or are we trying to help them to be like Jesus? It’s easy in a group such as a family, a business, or a church to focus on what each person can give to that group, but it’s often much more important to help each person become who they are meant to be in Jesus. That’s when they’ll be ready for the greatest joy and the greatest influence and impact they could possibly have!
