I used to hate facial hair, but then it grew on me!🧔‍♂️😆

Here’s another one for you: Why couldn’t the bike stand up? It was two tired! A lot of words with double meanings are good for a cheesy pun or a great dad joke, but some of them illustrate an important point.  Like alter  and altar. Alter (change) and altar (the spot at the front of some churches where people come to get right with God) sound the same, but it’s easy to come to an altar without every changing.

We can come to the “altar” even in the privacy of our own homes, but it won’t do any good unless we ALTER our direction! Psalms 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” David had sinned in a pretty epic way and gotten caught and called out on it. His response shows just how willing he was to genuinely get right.

Psalms 51:6 says, “Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts:

and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.” Let’s not fake it on the outside or “fake it ‘til we make it.” Let’s come to God for genuine change on the inside that’ll show up on the outside.
