It’s hard to move forward if we don’t get our feet off the ground

I’ve heard the difference between walking and running is that running means both feet come off the ground at the same time, but walking always has at least one foot on the ground. The girls love to run and play, but they usually aren’t dressed quite so fancy when they do (mommy went inside Target, so we had some time to kill 😬). When it comes to your spiritual life, are you walking, running, or both?

Galatians 5:25 says, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” In other words, if we’ve been made alive by the Holy Spirit (and every Christian has), that should show up in how we live. If Jesus were literally trying to walk with you today, would you need to speed up to catch up to Him, slow down your own plans to focus on His, or maybe change directions altogether? We should always walk in the Spirit.

But what about when life feels more like a sprint than a calm walk?Hebrews 12:1b says, “let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” Even when life gets a little crazy and we feel like we can’t keep up, we need to pace ourselves (to “run with patience”). We can’t go through life constantly at full speed. We need rest; we need time just us and God. But we also need to get busy for God.

Whether it’s more like walking with God in your life right now or running full speed ahead with Him, let’s always make sure it’s WITH GOD.
