“I’ll Try Anything Once” Can Be a Terrible Idea!

Gummy lunchables…the product we never knew we needed (and probably still don’t!). The girls were excited to try it and actually liked it! Some things are worth trying. Others are not!

Ephesians 5:1-3 says, “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”

Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we should respond by following Him and walking in love, not by trying all of the sin we can. Some things shouldn’t even be able to be named among us; sins shouldn’t be a part of our lives, our families, or our friend groups.

We don’t need to keep trying things we know are wrong, hoping to find something that will make us happy when Jesus offers us the most joyful and fulfilling life possible. One of the most incorrect song lyrics ever is “If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad.” Actually, it can be that bad! And when the Bible says it is that bad, let’s not have anything to do with it.

When it came to that gummy “lunchable,” I thought “Hey, it might be fun; why not give it a try?.“ Let’s never take that attitude toward anything God says is wrong!
