Don’t Let Little Things Turn into Big Problems

Several months ago, we wanted to protect our chickens and keep them in their run where they belong, so we bought this frame. It didn’t work very well until we put the chicken wire fencing around it! It’s be easy for us to say “Those chickens won’t do THAT MUCH damage to the garden if we let them loose” or “There USUALLY aren’t any big predators around to protect the chickens from.” But if we wanna keep them safe, we gotta deal with even the little things before they blow up into big problems.

The saying is true that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”Song of Solomon 2:15 says, “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” Whether it’s farming, a relationship like the one described in Song of Solomon, our relationship with God, or any other relationship, we need to protect what matters, even from things that seem small and insignificant. Things like anger, unforgivness, and bitterness might seem small and normal, but they ruin relationships in big ways if they aren’t dealt with. Looking at the wrong stuff leads to thinking about (and often doing) wrong stuff, and allowing a “little sin” in the door opens us up to more and more.

You might think “Oh it’s just a little thing, not any big deal,” but wars have been started over “little things,” and relationships get ruined every day over “little things” that aren’t properly dealt with. We can say to ourselves “It won’t happen to me” or we can get busy making sure it doesn’t.
