I Don’t Think I Wanna Test That on Someone I Love, Especially on Valentine’s Day!

Seems a little weird and kind of scary that my girls’ pajamas say that they are flame resistant! I guess if they ever end up in a fire I’ll be glad they have a little protection, but I hope to never find out how well that flame resistance works! I love them and want to keep them safe, so I want to keep them away from danger instead of teaching them to get as close as they can without getting hurt.

I hope to consistently teach them that same lesson about spiritual danger as well. Jude 1:23 says, “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” Our attitude toward sin matters. We should be eager to help anyone who is struggling, and that often has to begin with ourselves.

It’s tragically easy to try to help someone out of sin only to join them instead.

Rather than trying to see how much temptation we can surround ourselves with and still not sin, let’s see how much good and Godly stuff we can surround ourselves with. Instead of trying to prove how strong we are, let’s prove how strong Jesus is as He keeps us away from sin. Instead of rejecting God’s plan for our days and our decisions, let’s take the “way to escape” mentioned in 1 Corinthians 10:13. That might mean changing what we watch. It might mean changing what we listen to, where we go, who we spend time with, or even what we wear.

I don’t wanna find out how much heat my daughters’ PJs could take before bursting into flames, and I hope none of us find out how much temptation we can take before we give in to sin.
