The girls love to play dress up and pretend to be all sorts of things. They’ll enjoy temporarily “becoming” princesses, bakers, and even dinosaurs and dragons all year long. Maybe you’re dressing up for Halloween, or maybe you skip all that. Either way, with God, we don’t have to wear a costume or pretend to be someone we aren’t. Instead, we get to enjoy who He made us to be.
The best thing ever, the greatest thing we can ever be, is who God made each of us to be. You are the best YOU God ever made.
In 1 Corinthians 9:16, Paul says, “For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!” Of course we aren’t all called to be preachers, but we are all called. All followers of Jesus are called to serve Him in specific ways. God gives each of us different gifts and talents, and becoming who He made us to be is the only way to live life to the fullest.
Let’s make sure we’re doing what’s best, what God wants us to do, and then let’s give it everything we’ve got. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” We’ve only got so long to make a difference in this life. The world needs you, you fulfilling your God-given purpose. We have enough people trying to be someone they were never supposed to be. We need people who will genuinely be who God made them to be. It’s the best life we can possibly live and a whole lot better than wasting our lives trying to find genuine meaning in fake imitations of our purpose that really aren’t any better than a cheap costume.
