Fruity Pebbles flavor…really?!? You never know what you’ll find in a grocery store these days! No, I did NOT buy it and do NOT want to try those pancakes or syrup! Sometimes, the original, the real thing, is the best. You might disagree when it comes to weird-flavored food, but sometimes the real deal is the only deal and the original is the only option.
One of those times is when it comes to our worship. Exodus 20:3 says, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” You might know that verse as the first commandment, and it makes it clear that God is the real deal, the only One worthy of our worship. He’s the Creator, the original, the best. We spend our time, our focus, energy, money, and effort showing who or what we value and love the most. God should ALWAYS be at the top of that list because anything or anyone else just can’t compare to Him. Some relationship or thing might seem worthy for a little while, but they can’t compare in the long run.
People worship all sorts of things. We might never own some statue of an idol or bow down in front of an object, but worship is showing who or what is worthy of what we have. Let’s make sure that’s always God. Then every other priority will fit right where it belongs.
