Crossroads…I was born and raised three hours up North 11 and have also lived several hours south (and then in the midwest as well). Each part of the journey had bumps along the way and brought times when I felt like giving up. But none of those difficulties were the end of my story, and neither are the difficulties you may be facing right now!
In John 11, Jesus is told that His friend Lazarus is seriously sick. Jesus saw the big picture and knew how it would end, and in verse 4 He says, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” If you aren’t familiar with the story it might surprise you that Lazarus soon after that does in fact die. But Jesus was exactly right that the sickness was not unto death because death was not the end of the story, just a bump in the road. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead and proved His power, even over death itself. Jesus also proved that He is powerful enough to help you through whatever difficulties you are facing.
Lazarus’s death was like an a pause before the big finish! Don’t give up during a difficult part. Your story isn’t over!
