As much as I enjoy social media, Iām not very good at Snapchat! Iāll mess around with filters once in a while, mostly to entertain my 6 and 7 year old daughters, but I usually just share a link to these devotions each day. Not sure if Iām too old to use filters, but weāre all too old to let money and stuff make us act like selfish 2-year-olds crying, āMINEā all the time as we fight to get more!
In Luke 12:15 Jesus said, āTake heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.ā Itās ok if you have money, but itās not ok if money has you! The Bible never says that money is the root of all evil, just that the LOVE of money is (1 Timothy 6:10). Itās a bad sign if weāre never satisfied, never content with what we have, and always looking for more stuff instead of looking to God.
In Psalms 17:8, David asks God to āKeep me as the apple of the eye.ā To be the apple of someoneās eye pictures being so close to someone who loves you that your reflection shows in their eyes kinda like those dollar signs show in my eyes with that silly filter.
Because God loves us that much, we donāt have to frantically run after money and stuff to fulfill our lives. We get to rely on God Who loves each of us perfectly. We can be content with whatever blessings He decides will be best for us.
