The Moon Was Shining Bright Last Night…And I Got to See It!

The moon is always shining but we don’t always see it. What a great view.! When I came inside and showed Jen, she said the pic was even better than the view out the window. We don’t always get to see the moon shining this brightly.

We should reflect Jesus, the true Light of the world like the moon reflects the sun, and we should be reflecting that light to the lost world all around us. The moon ALWAYS reflects the sun (except during eclipses, but those are rare!), but for us to see the moon, it has to be shining TOWARD US. It’s easy to want to hide our faith and to blend in with the world around us, but that’s not what Jesus did. He intentionally shined the light where it was most needed. Mark 2:16-17 says, “And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t take a person home to heaven the moment they get saved? I think one reason is so that we can show others what God is like. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Part of living like Jesus is to live out our faith in full view of the people around us, even the ones who currently don’t like our faith. If we live like Jesus, they‘ll get a glimpse of what the One Who offers salvation to everyone is really like. It would be amazing for someone to look at your life or mine and be able to say, “Jesus was shining bright through them, and I got to see it!”
