Sometimes It’s Hard to Know What’s True

gas station signs with different messages

2 different gas stations…2 different messages! One place tells you to turn off your cell phone at the pump while the other one encourages you to pull out that phone and use it! I’ll leave it up to each of you to decide for yourself whether it’s safe to use a phone at a gas pump (and you could wait until after pumping gas to go to that website I supposed!), but it’s definitely clear that not everything we are told is true!

To get to the truth, we often have to consider the source. Romans 3:4 says, “Let God be true, but every man a liar.” There have been a ton of times throughout history where people have claimed to have proven that the Bible isn’t true or God isn’t real only to have their “proof” be disproved. It really comes down to a choice: Ultimately trust God Who has a perfect track record of truth or ultimately trust someone or something else. I’ve never seen anything or anyone but God and His Word always be right. Maybe you’re hanging onto a specific doubt (or doubts) about God and His Word. If so, let me encourage you to dig a little deeper. Consider the source of that info and look at all the times God has proven Himself to be “the way, the truth, and the life.” Archeology, history, paleontology, cosmology (and a whole bunch of other ologies) consistently show that God is real and the Bible is true once they “dig deep enough.”

And if you are convinced that the Bible is true, be like the Berean Christians who tested everything against the Bible. Acts 17:11 says “They received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
