It’s Not Meant to Mix

A little sugar water, a little food coloring, and a lot of fun! Each glass has a different amount of sugar mixed in, and the less-sugary water floats on top, as long as they don’t get mixed together!

At the beginning of 2 Corinthians 11, Paul describes how he so badly wanted the people of the church at Corinth to purely follow Jesus. Corinth was a wicked, sinful, worldly place and Paul didn’t want them to mix their faith with that mess. Verse 3 says, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” There is a wonderful simplicity in Jesus. Life can be purely what Jesus has for us…as long as we don’t try to stir in something else.

Just like that water, some things are not supposed to mix. You can try to make them mix, and if you do, it’s no good. At the end of the experiment, the girls stirred everything together into a ugly-colored mess. I hope our lives never become like that!
