If you don’t wanna get stung, you stay away from wasps nests, and if you don’t wanna sin, you stay away from temptation and even eliminate it every chance you get.
Proverbs 4:14-15 says, “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.” We can’t always avoid temptation and those who are doing wrong, but here are 2 strategies that will always help: First, get more accountability than you think you need. People often look at accountability as weakness, but asking someone to help us do right and call us on it if we do wrong is one of the most effective ways to avoid sin.
Second, set more boundaries than you think you need. Avoid wrong music, guard what you watch, stay off technology when you’re alone if necessary. We all need to guard ourselves and our testimony. A lot of people won’t understand why we’d choose to have boundaries, but a lot of people also fall into the temptations we’re trying to avoid.
Instead of seeing how close we can get to sin, let’s see how close we can get to Jesus.
