If God Has Marked the Path, Let’s Never Get Off the Trail

We love hiking and do a good bit of it as a family. Jen and I teach the girls to stay on the trail because they’ll be much safer there. Sometimes there seems to be a shortcut or something interesting off the trail, but we don’t let them venture off because that’s where things get dangerous. You can get lost or even slip and fall as often tragically happens at a different nearby hike. Hopefully our girls stay on the hiking trail, but even more so, we want them to always stay on the path God has chosen for them.
Proverbs 3:5-7 encourages us to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” It’s OK if we don’t know where to go as long as we follow the One Who does. It’s OK if we don’t have all the answers as long as we listen to the One Who does.
“I got this” often comes right before a mistake. It’s much better to go to God for directions and then stay on the path He chooses for us. That path isn’t always easy, but I’d rather be on a tough trail with God than anywhere else without Him.
