Just because these are fun: You can only keep 1: coffee, pizza, fast food, or tacos. I like all of them (and eat more than I probably should sometimes!), but I gotta say, coffee would be my “must have” off of this list. Thankfully all of these “choose 1” quizzes are just for the fun of it, but for our real lives, we should choose our “must haves” carefully.
Romans 12:9 says, “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
Let’s cleave to, hold tight to, the good no matter what. You might be having a good day, or maybe it’s been a rough day. Things might be going as planned, or things might be so far off course that you can’t even remember what the course was. Make the right things always happen. You might be single; you might be married. You might be busy, or you might be bored, sick or healthy. Some things ALWAYS need to happen.
So what’s always, definitely going to be a part of your day? It’s fine if that includes coffee or some other pick-me-up, but do your days also include God? The Bible? Prayer? How about kindness? Love? Generosity? Encouraging others? It’s interesting that the very next verse challenges us to think of others before ourselves (“preferring one another”), and the verse after that tells us to be “serving the Lord.”
So, what are your must haves for today?
