I promise, it was Jen’s idea for me to take this picture and use it for a devotional. I wasn’t sure what verse this illustrates, and then I remembered 2 Corinthians 10:4: “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.“ Anything that goes against God and His Word can become a stronghold. Whether it’s the stronghold of pride or of human wisdom apart from God or the depression and hopelessness that those things can lead to, we need strong weapons to be able to face everything the world throws at us.
Ok, maybe the spatula and the plant cart aren’t exactly “mighty,” but don’t mess with a crazy chicken lady (read the shirt 🤔).
Thankfully our spiritual weapons actually are mighty and include faith, prayer, obedience to God’s Word (which means we need to read it and know what it says), and the Holy Spirit’s power. Through that power, we can be “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).
