Gets Me Right in the Feels!

We recently discovered a new version of the game Operation that uses a big inflatable guy with lots of “foreign objects” like toys and fake soda cans stuck in him. Players have to reach in and try to remove the correct object without looking, just based on touch. We may buy the game someday, but for now, my backpack worked just fine!

You may or may not be able to tell what a toy is just by how it feels, but feelings are definitely not the best guide for our lives in general. Proverbs 16:32 says, “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;

and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” Ruling your spirit means you control your emotions instead of your emotions controlling you.

Jim Shettler says, “Emotions make great ENGINES but terrible PILOTS.” Let your excitement fire you up to do big things for God, but don’t let your passion lead you to do wrong. Let fear remind you that some things need to be avoided, and let anger empower you to take a stand against wrong, but always decide what to do based on the Bible, not just how you feel in the moment. Whether it’s this new game or real life, what feels right is often wrong.
