Bigger Is Better?!? I Guess That Depends!

Addison was amazed at these giant chocolate boxes! Huge things like this definitely grab attention, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better. If we had bought and eaten that box of candy, we’d probably still be sick! Bigger is better IF it’s a good thing that we have.

A lot of people like to think living for God is no big deal, but the blessing for following Him and the consequences for doing our own thing are GIANT.  Deuteronomy 28:2-3 says, “And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.” We aren’t offered the exact same promises as Old Testament Israel, but God does have giant blessings for everyone who lives for Him.

Verses 15-16 tell us the flip side: “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: 16 Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.”

The biggest blessing God has is a good relationship with Him, and missing out on that is the biggest consequence to our sin. Thankfully Jesus had made it possible for us to have all our sins forgiven forever and to make our daily relationship with Him right when we temporary do our own thing as Christians.

So what’s BIG in your life? Anything need to change?
